Granted, a patent seems to go against the concept of "open innovation" in mass customization, but the IP was created (filed, not approved) simply to help define the collaborative consumer-centric process.

I have been working on a potential solution for Mass Customization in the auto industry, and brought my idea to BMW A.G., but was rejected (I believe) because of "not invented here" syndrome and their reluctance to openly innovate. In 2001, I filed a patent at the U.S. PTO entitled "System and Method for Mass Customizing Multi-Component Articles", just one pillar of a complex open innovation plan for the auto industry. I would like to submit a full proposal to Daimler A.G., and would like to know how best to go about that. A copy of the patent application can be viewed here (but is incomplete without a proper proposal to place it in context) . I will attempt to contact Mr. Pillar directly by email.
